ジェイムス・カー（James Carr, 1942年6月13日 - 2001年1月7日）はアメリカ合衆国テネシー州メンフィス出身で、メンフィス・ソウルを代表する歌手。2001年にメンフィスの養護施設で癌のために亡くなった。58歳。

ゴスペル・グループ The Harmony Echoesで歌っているときにルーズベルト・ジャミソン(Roosvelt Jamison)に認められメンフィスのゴールドワックス(Goldwax)からデビュー。

ヒット曲は「You've got my mind messed up」（1966年）、「Pouring water on a drowning man」（1966年）、「The Dark End Of The Street」（1967年）などで、アレサ・フランクリン、グラム・パーソンズやエルヴィス・コステロ等のカヴァーでお馴染みの曲も多い。サザン・ソウルの名曲をゴールドワックスで制作し、全14枚のシングルを残している。1971年にアトランティック・レコードから1枚発売したあと活動を中止。

晩年は重い情緒障害で苦悩の日々を送っていたが、1990年代初頭に地方のレーベルからカムバックしてアルバムをリリースしたが絶頂期の姿はなかった。
