詩のスタンザ（stanza, 節、詩節、連、聯）は、長い詩の構成単位である。イタリア語で「部屋」という意味。現代詩では、ストローフィ（自由詩の節、連）とほぼ同義語になる。ポピュラー音楽のスタンザは（リフレイン形式つまりコーラス部とは別の）1番、2番…である。

スタンザは数行から成り立ち、前後のスタンザとは空白行で区切られる。一般的に韻律と押韻のパターンを持っている。

伝統的な英語詩の中で、スタンザは押韻構成か、決まった行数（二行連、三行連、四行連、五行連、六行連）を持っているので、識別することが可能である。空白行か句読点でスタンザを区切るのが印刷上の慣習なので、現代詩のほとんどは、印刷されたページ上でスタンザを恣意的に表すことが可能である。

英語（や西洋の言語）の中で最も馴染みのあるスタンザ形式は教会の賛美歌である。次に挙げるのは、アイザック・ワッツ（en:Isaac Watts）の1719年の詩『Our God, Our Help in Ages Past』^[1]の9つのスタンザのうちの最初の3つのスタンザである（なお、この賛美歌は1708年にウィリアム・クロフトが作った曲の旋律に乗せて歌われる）。

Our God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come,

Our shelter from the stormy blast,

And our eternal home.

Under the shadow of Thy throne

Thy saints have dwelt secure;

Sufficient is Thine arm alone,

And our defense is sure.

Before the hills in order stood,

Or earth received her frame,

From everlasting Thou art God,

To endless years the same. [etc.]

たとえばシェイクスピアのソネットのようにぱっと見てわからないスタンザもあるが、以下のように同じ押韻構成を持つスタンザと、最後の二行連に解読できる。

   Let me not to the marriage of true minds             |\
   Admit impediments. Love is not love                  | \
   Which alters when it alteration finds,               | / All one stanza
   Or bends with the remover to remove:                 |/
   O no! it is an ever-fixed mark,                      |\ 
   That looks on tempests and is never shaken;          | \
   It is the star to every wandering bark,              | / All one stanza
   Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken. |/
   Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks  |\
